I use Zonealarm. Have used it for over 4 years and never had an issue with it. You can test it with the sheilds up website that will tell you if your PC is protested.

XP has a built in firewall (I think it was added on with one of the service packs). Thats what I use at home. zone alarms gave me alot of issues.

Here is how you enable it.

You will need spy sweeper to protect you from downloading malicious applications as well as a fire wall and anti virus.

I use spy sweeper, avg anti virus, and a "hub" for my firewall.

I tried to download Service Pack 2 for XP and it crashed my computer so bad I had to reinstall XP and it killed all the drivers so the printer, sound card, modem - everything went down. Some firewall - it burned the whole system. Still haven't got sound yet.
