I agree with the fly technique, I use a bead headed fly that sinks real slow and I usually catch about 30 or 40 small bream in City Lake in Royse City behind my house. It is legal to fish only with a pole. You can't use throw nets or jug lines or trotlines.

need2fish,
You can keep fish from what I understand. there are extra regulation and bag limits so look them up on the tpwd website..for example catfish limit is 5.

I have seen fellows using cast nets at Bethany Lakes. I thought it was not legal but I didn't say anything to them.

I like using perch for drifting but I can usually catch 5 to 10 in about 30 minuts on the way to the lake with a piece of bread and lite rig.

I took my 6 year old to Russell Creek for couple hours since this kind of nice weather is hard to come by in Texas.

The little guy was able to catch a large-mouth (Nothing big. Probably 14 inch and 1 1/2 lb) on a single kernel of salted corn.

Imagine my surprise when he starts screaming, "Daddy, daddy, I think I got a big bluegill!"

Oh, we also met a guy who was quite skillful with jigging, and he landed 5-6 large mouths, with one 5 pounder.
