Until recently I thought they were all warmouth. I read a post on another forum and saw the difference. Who knew? Not me.

don't know that i have ever seen a warmouth then. I have caught all kinds of perch, but never ones as pink as that one. We used to catch bream all the time on crickets. THey were big bluegill and chinquapin (don't ask if i am spelling this right or what - just what they were called). THey had less color than the bluegill and typically would come larger. I am from LA ya know. icon_biggrin.gif

This was the first kind of fish i caught on my Fly Rod out at Bethany Lakes. Put up a great fight! Bet they eat pretty good to.

Have the rules changed at Bethany lakes, I thought the signs read catch and release only icon_eek.gif

Oh i threw it back, notice i said I "bet" they eat pretty good. Just guessing. usually those perch type fish have great flavor if you can get a mess big enough to fry up.

We catch them all the time, they are WARMOUTH. We used to fish Caddo Lake in East Texas all the time, thats when I first sall them. They are a great catch, and school in mass just like Gills...

Green ear and warmouth look similar but the one in the pic is fo sho a green sunfish and not a warmouth. Look at the comparison in the 2 pics. Its crystal clear.

I musta caught a zillion of these as a kid growin up in Louisiana. We always called them Sun Perch...........

i caught a green sunfish lastnight on a jerk bait and it weighed 1.11 pounds. there huge! and its just in the golfcourse.
