I took off work today & pulled my boat & 2 sons up to Texoma for one last fishing trip before Josh heads to Afganistan. We launched out of Highport and head up twards the Lighthouse area looking for some topwater action. NADA! Headed west to check out a small boat show. NADA. Headed south to the Islands. 1 drum while trolling out of desperation Now it is almost noon, its getting hot & we have no fish. OK, 1 more stop, back to Lighthouse. Marked some fish so we started slabbin, then out of nowhere the sun dissapears behind some clouds. Bam, fish on. A solid 22"er..... Sweet. Soon after that, the water began to boil. 2hrs later we left them biting & headed back to Highport with our 30 fish & released that many more. So we woke up @ 3am to get there by 6am and we could have slept till 9 and done just fine Oh well, it was a great day to be on the Big Pond.

any kind of top water was workin, chugs, spooks, ect. The box fish were up top and the bigger fish were mabey 30' down in 65' of water. I did hook a very, very nice fish that stripped all kinds of line. Got him to the boat twice & it jumped as Josh was nettin it. Needless to say he netted the slab on the side of its mouth and bye bye fishee It was the biggest striper I had ever hooked & was an easy 30".

| Nice fish, way to stay on them. I have a friend who is a guide there and he told me they are doing well. I just cant find time to get up early enough on my day off to get out there early enough to catch shad. If slabbing is the ticket and you caught them in late morning sounds like the next overcast day I may need to get out there and stop waiting on my friend to tell me he has a down day to fish.
