We took the kids out tubing on Saturday afternoon and ended up with 23 keepers. Guesstimating over 100 hooked...bunches of dinks and about six under sized Hybrids & Striper's. The crazy thing was we only took two rods for two adults and three kids, b/c we expected to be tubing more than fishing. We were in 18 to 13 foot of water on the South-West side of the Island. The wind was out of the south. I started out with a 'Sand Blaster' (like a Little George or Hum Dinger) and went to a small slab after a hang up. My buddy started out with a 7/8oz slab and reduced down to a Sand Blaster. It was disappointing if we went three casts with out a hook up
The key was to bounce the bait off the bottom like you were working a Texas Rigged Worm. My 8 year old told me this morning that yesterday was the best day ever We'll be back out next Friday or Saturday!

We had the same thing only top water action for a little over 2 hours it was the best I have seen in a long time like you said a lot of dinks but we had about the same numbers. I had my grown son with me and he too said it was the best fishing trip he had ever been on. Charteuse (sp) road runners were the bait of choice three football fields left, right and out from Avalon, reports were the same yesterday over by the dam. _________________ JimBo

| MAGNUMS !!! Cajun Mike and I nailed them again Friday evening, 6:00 to 10:00. Same spot (north / west side of the island) Some of the biggest I've ever seen from Lavon. Kept a few small ones before we got into the 12"+. We ended up sending 30 whites and 1 cat to the freezer. Anchored in 18' and cast to 12ish. Little George type .5oz bates (pearl white & sunfish), two on top water and a few slab'rs. The bite stopped right at sunset.

kelleyB, Sounds like you are staying on them. I went again Sunday and chased them on top, only 5 keepers out of about 75. Even tried heaver slab to get below but the little ones would attack it on the way down. It is fun at any rate. _________________ JimBo

| i keep going, but cant seem to get into them so the boys (9 & 11yrss) can catch a boatload. are you locating them by sight, or using the graph..? we are casting & sometimes dropping straight down white slabs. not catching, but they will occasionaly hit the big live minnow. they fight good, are so much fun to catch and not bad to eat..i baked a couple fillets in the oven with butter and seasonall this weekend. turned out pretty good.

sford, we have been looking for them breaking the surface by eye, we have found that a good place to start is by the dam (up by the gates) at sunrise. just keep looking at the surface for what looks like boiling water later in the morning they have moved out into the open towards the island. In the last three weekends we have caught a couple of hundred fish (only about 20 keepers) doing this. Watch for the birds as well they will go in and feed on the shad, also a set of binoculars helps to see them busting the water off in a distance. Good Luck. _________________ JimBo

fished the island Sunday with several of my closest friends. We were anchored with 2 other boats on the SW side, there were 3-4 boats at the cut through. We were catching several dinks and having a good time until...... a boat decides they are going to troll between our anchored boats and the shore... we were about 20 yards out. Looped around and did it again. They did the same to the boats at the cut through.

You know with people like that they just can't see other people fishing. So what I would reccommend is to take the biggest weight or lure you have in your box and just see if you can get there attention. I will promise you that they will remember your boat and will not even come with-in 100 yards of you next time. Just trying to leaned a little friendly advice to the fellow fisherman. Good Fishing!!!!

one of the other boats hollered, there was a verbal exchange about who owns the lake.... they came back later, but trolled the outside that time. Luckily, the fish ignored it all.

| noDinks, that numb nut was yelling at me. "Do you own the lake?" What a moron. I couldn't believe the stupidity of those guys trolling right through three boats and the bank...TWICE ??? Oh well, I assume you were in the bass boat. We met the couple in the pontoon between us. They were very nice. We ended up with ten over 12" in the cooler and dozens of throw backs. That point has been a hot spot as long as the south wind is blowing.
