The family and I are entertaining the idea of a 4 day vacation to Galveston or
somewhere on the coast, not too far.

Wanting to rent somewhere to stay on the beach, take a boat trip and maybe do some fishing or just some kind of small scenic cruise. I may have worn them out with fishing but I plan to hit the surf with the castnet and poles at least once or twice.

Looking for some place that has some fun things to do for a 14 and 18 year old.
Did not want to drive more than 5 hours or so away.

Does anyone have some suggestions whether it be the coast or something else during the 1st or 2nd week of August?

Thanks.

I've always wanted to stay at the Flagship Hotel and try to fish out of my hotel room window.

I will be staying at the flagship next month somtime ...Not very many good reviews about the place, but they got a fishing pier right there so thats why were staying there....I just told the wife to pack a can of raid and a few air fresheners icon_lol.gif

Fishhook, I do know that most of the holtels room rates are a lot cheaper if you go during the middle of the week.

you can buy this map for a few bucks and it shows a lot of the stuff to do around there so you arent completely lost.

Yeah Buddy/Bobby! I know I'd like that icon_exclaim.gif icon_exclaim.gif Might have to wait till another time on that one as the wife is kinda picky as to her accomadations. I've fished off that pier and know exactly where you are talking about. That's a great idea...Just hang it out the window icon_exclaim.gif icon_exclaim.gif Thanks!

I was on the island one weekend a few years back. As it turned out so was the whole national Kappa fraternity for their yearly party. I didn't see any fishing going on from the Flagship hotel room windows, but I did see some hotel room furniture being thrown from the windows into the water. Glad it wasn't my credit card paying for the room.

You also might look into catching the ferry from Galveston Island to the Boliver Peninsula. You have a lot of coastline to fish there, and if I remember correctly it's the only beaches around Galveston that you can have a CAB on. I don't think you can drink on the beaches on the island anymore.

fish hook----I go and fish the coast a few times a year---Unless you want lots of city stuff---you might consider staying in Clute/Lake Jackson and fishing in Surfside. There is about 20 miles of beach and you should be able to find you own stretch of a mile or so. There is the jetty which is always good. and there is a couple dozen guides out of there--all of which can be great.

if you are interested--PM me and I will write you a book.
