I do some downrigging for stripers in the summer on Tawakoni but I often catch as many blues as I do stripers, caught this one today. My friend downrigged three over fifty last summer. All of these fish were caught on 1 oz. roadrunner type baits.

NICE FISH icon_exclaim.gif icon_exclaim.gif
Thanks for the info icon_exclaim.gif
How deep was the fish when caught icon_question.gif
Are you catching many BIG stripers icon_question.gif
That's amazing about catching blues on roadrunner type baits. However, I was going for stripers or hybrids this past weekend and caught a 3 lb. blue on a deep diver lure while trolling.
How many downriggers are you using at once?
Thanks

I did think I had a really big striper for a minute. I haven't been able to catch any really big stripers this year but I haven't been able to go fishing much, that whole work thing keeps messing up my fishing time. I caught the fish in 45 feet of water trolling at 22 to 25 feet deep. I run 2 downriggers at a time and I tie 2 baits on each line.

that is an interesting point. I t shows how the blues do chase live bait (or replicas of)...........but just to add a twist, the only big striper I have had in my boat (30 inches or more) was on dead shad on the end of a 1 ounce weight drifting for blues on Twok
