Erk. So Mr. Sandy, who I have yet to meet, is not doing ShadAid any longer? We non-castnet types still need some from time to time. Where the heck can I get some? If I ran out tonight and got a castnet it would be 2010 before I could throw the thing if I am on my normal learning curve...
So who is going to organize Shadapalooza? _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

Thanks very much Chase. My schedule won't allow it, and I have yet to buy a net, so I will have to pass on that. Appreciated though!! _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

cmon guys. go with someone and watch them do it. Then practice until you get it down. Chase has made an offer and if i were you I would make the time to at least get the quick lesson if not some bait also. _________________ Joe Simpson

| Start off with a smaller net 3-1/2' to 4' will get you bait right now pretty easy, then work your way to a bigger one.

It's all about time Mr. Simpson. I will eventually get all that stuff taken care of but logistics are tough. Speaking of which, I anxiously await an opportunity to give you money in exchange for sinkers.
(I swear I am going to fall in the lake throwing. I know I will. And the enraged shad will dismember me.) _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

| Definetly get a net and try it, It really is not hard to do, Many deferent methods, I have been catching a lot from the ramps before putting the boat in. Just gotta get the net spinning and the centrifugal force will do the rest.

| Warning... Chase throws a good net, but he does all this fancy twistin' and foldin', and weight bitin' prior to throwing. It opens up great, but is a little more advanced way of throwin' a net, IMHO.

| I watched several videos on the web then tried each of them. I ended up with a combo from two different throwing styles. Its works most of time. I have notice, bad throws occur when I try to toss it to hard, instead of a steady easy motion.

i don't know that i have ever watched him throw, but sounds like the dry toss method - go to calusa.com and there is a video there. it was designed I think for bigger nets but works great for 6 and 7 footers.
Todd throws his net somewhat like a sidearm baseball pitch. Looks like the easiest way to do it, but I never tried it. _________________ Joe Simpson
