This past weekend NTTC held its first 2 day classic at Bass Pro shops on Lake Ray Hubbard. This event was a huge success and could not have been any better. The events started Friday evening at the fish fry and gathering of catfisherman. After the great fellowship it was time to head to bed and make last minute changes to fishing gear. Saturday morning started mild and windy. The wind eventually calmed down a bit but still had the water chopped. During the hours there were several activities going on at BPS, including the girl scouts fishing derby that NTTC women helped out with.
Several spectators showed up for our quick weigh-in on Saturday. After day 1 Petree/Nelson were on top of the board with 70 lbs. After the weigh in was over it was time for the BBQ gathering for those that could stay up, or bed time for those that had enough of the blistering sun.
Sunrise on day 2 was welcomed with a brief lightning storm in the distance but turned out to be decent weather. Day 2 proved to be more difficult fishing for all anglers but all of them gave it their best efforts. The weigh in scale opened to even more spectators and plenty for all to enjoy. Had the grill going, balloons for the kids along with a bounce house. After every team walked across the stage it was time for the awards. First off we had to give an award and flowers to our friend and photographer, Kim. Then it was time for Jered and I to recognize our wives for their support this year to help us bring anglers the best trail in Texas.(well that’s what I’ve been told). Then we continued with the NTTC appreciation awards going to Robert, Chase, Brad, David, Dusty and Ricky. Anglers of the year went to Petree/Nelson. Rookies of the year went to Lewers/Miles . Sportsman of the year went to Smith/Alexander. All six anglers were presented with a trophy and money from Bee Ready Rod Holders.
Came time to hand out cash and awards, we had so many it seemed to take forever. Everybody went home with Countrybobs sauce, free appetizer from Texas Land & Cattle and tackle from proangler tackle. Then on top of that everybody won a very nice price from one of our many classic sponsors. Then we handed out several prizes in the random drawing with BIG PRIZE being a $200 steak package from LONESTAR GOURMET. After it was all handed out we managed to hand out well over $5000 in cash and prizes, $5300.00 to be exact plus trophies and the goodie bag (country bob’s, proangler tackle pack and free appetizer to TLC) The run down looks like this.
Nelson/Petree 134.1 Big Fish 41.2
Smith/Richardson 103.9
Gardner/Simpson 68.8
Miles/Robbins 67.6
Maddox/Armstrong 62.4
Skinner/Davis 59.0
Smith/Alexander 57.0
Payne/Payne 56.5
Miles/Lewers 52.9
Gibson/Pauling 51.7
Gatlin/Pauling 50.5
Moore/Williams 50.2
Mounger/Bush 48.2
Lambert/Wilcox 46.9
Allison/Siegrist 38.6
Bee/Ducharme 33.9
Downs/Harper 32.3
Dalton/Salazar 22.4
Mounger/Clark 18.9
Hartman/Burnett 16.6
Lemley 14.8
Special thanks go to Trophy Catfish adventures for the special guide trip raffle that went to Mr. Thompson I believe is the correct spelling. This trip helped out NTTC tremendously.
BIG THANKS to our classic sponsors Plano Office Supply ,Core Construction, Dallas Door, DMI Mechanical, Fairway Security, Uretk ICR, Bass Pro Shops, Bee Ready Rod Holders, Pro Angler Tackle, North Texas GUIDE Service, Academy Sports, Country BOBS, Texas Land & Cattle, Primos, Team Catfish, PotBelly,4Foot Cat, County Line BBQ, Advantage Marine, LONSTAR Gourmet.
Jered and I would like to thank all the members from NTTC that presented us with the Plaque, Hat and the NEW VINYL job on the weigh-in trailer. This was an unexpected gift from you guys and it means the world to us. It shows that NTTC is more than just a tournament trail. It is a group of anglers that has bonded and made new friends while learning how to be better anglers. I have seen families and friendships grow strong in this group and we are proud to be apart of it. THANKS TO ALL IT HAS BEEN A GREAT AND SUCCESSFUL YEAR.

Well said! I personally want to say that it's been a privledge, and a pleasure to fish these tournaments this year. I've made many new friends, and have become closer friends with others. Can't wait till the new season starts. NTTC can only go up from here. We've got the best leaders, IMO, to go along with the best catfish tournament trail around period ( once again IMO). Brent n Jered you guys did an awesome job this year. Thanks again for everything that ya'll do. _________________ BigBrad

if you missed this tourney then you really missed something special. It was well done and everybody walked away with something. I had a great time and I was wore slap out. Where else can you come back to the weigh in and eat a couple of hotdogs while standing in the line . It was agreat season and I know that next season will only be better. Keep up the good work guys. _________________ Joe Simpson

I'm just repeating some of the sentiments above but thank you Brent, Jered, and all who had a hand in putting together and supporting these tournaments. You can't find a better group of guys anywhere and I don't know if you've noticed but there are quite a few folks gettin out that know how to land a cat or two! This group of anglers is a challenge and pleasure to fish against and I know we value the competition as well as new the new friends we have made. _________________ John Davis
