|
|
What is up with the Chines Abu Garcia at Walmart? I was all excited to see them since they were red, said 6000 on them, and were 59.95. Finally got one off it's hook and there it was......MADE IN CHINA. Anyone use these? Are they any good? Guess it's back to Southwestern for refurb for me. _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

it is a crying shame what they have done to the 6000. I don't like them, but there are some that do. I will continue to try and find the original version for as long as i can get my hands on them. _________________ Joe Simpson

I have several of the old "Made in Sweden" versions. I have 4 in my current rotation and a few more in storage for later.
You can get them off of EBAY, and for less than the $59.95 that you paid for the china version. I won't pay more than $42.00 (plus shipping) for brand new "Sweden" version 6000's. Most of them are from people who bought closeouts from sports stores when they were clearing out old stock. Some are still in original packages.
I agree with Joe, the 6000 is a great reel for catfishing, or at least was a great reel. _________________ Clean fish and feed someone for the day....teach someone to clean fish and enjoy a CAB while someone else cleans the fish!

Funny how on eBay it costs 15 bucks to ship a fishing reel.
I intend to acquire a few of them slowly. _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

Cheaper, are you sure they were not red 6600s you were looking at?
To my knowledge they dont make the 6000 at all (shame)
I own 10 6600s that I bought factory refurbished off of FFO.
I dont like the backwards clicker, but I have had a clicker spring malfunction in 3 of them. Got 12 extras springs ofr 3 bucks. Besides that I cant complain much. I will say I would not pay 60 bucks for them though. They ain't worth that. I pay 38 for the refurbs and I consider them a B+ reel for that much.
I got a couple of 6000s, 5500C3s and 3 of tex's reels. I consider those the best of my fleet.

Pretty sure they were 6000 with a coupl or three letters after them. I have been trying to get the dang Abu model numbers straight so I think I probably have at leat that one model number correct.
That said, what the heck is a 6600? _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

The 6600 BCX is the china version of the sweedish 6000.
They claim to be sweedish design , made in china. bla bla bla
like I said , besides the clicker spring issue, its been reliable for the FFO price I paid 37.88 no tax/no shipping,
BTW the 5600 BCX do NOT have a clicker

Given my track record with domestically manufactured women I don't have a problem with that. _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

you might be right
now, if 50% of goods that are made in china were made south of the border, immigration would take care of itself. but thats just me thinking out loud _________________ memory lane is only a 1/4 mile long

You could always "hook up" with one of those women from JohnnyD's post. And just look at the bright side, with your groin injury she could do all the heavy lifting.....
