I'm convinced of that whichever party wins the election. I KNOW I don't want Obama...Lord help us all if he wins. That being said McCain is just another crook in the pocket of big money lobbyists and won't get a d@mn thing done unless it's in the interest of big oil/big money. What scares me though is Obama's lead is getting bigger, and America as we know it will be over if he is in office. Bush has been the worst president this country has EVER known but we haven't seen Barak Hussein Obama in office YET _________________ John Davis

You don't strike me as the hysterical type sir. What are you so worried about? This republic has a long and proud history and has a political system second to none. It works well and is self correcting. If either man gets into office and just plain breaks the law we will impeach him. If he just sucks, we will hang on through the four years and toss him out.
Long live America. We have our problems, but we can manage to peacefully conduct our political affairs and have a system that does not concentrate enough power in any one man for our country to be derailed. _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

The past 8 years are a guarantee that we will move in an entirely different direction.
Polls don't lie. Obama is our next President. _________________ Number 1 Texas Rangers fan, circa 1972...Next year is the year.

Not hysterical but for the first time today I truly became concerned. The former CEO of Lehman Bros testified in front of Congress today and it was revealed that although he put up a good front to stockholders, internally Lehman was raising the red flag and knew the end was coming. The company is now protected under the bankruptcy umbrella while thousands of Americans have lost their hard earned investments they had entrusted to Lehman's care. Meanwhile, this crook has pocketed $480 MILLION dollars in personal profit over the past 8 years and paid out executive bonuses DAYS before filing bankruptcy.
Here's a quote from the hearings:
"The firm, in the days before it filed for bankruptcy, sought board approval to pay three departing executives more than $20 million, according to Waxman.
"Even as Mr. Fuld was pleading ... for a federal rescue, Lehman continued to squander millions on executive compensation," Waxman said."
How did this guy not leave in handcuffs? I was threatened with jail time and a seizure of assets years ago for not reporting about $10,000 in income when I was self employed and reporting and paying taxes (about 35% total before expenses and deductions)on around $40,000. This speaks not just to one elected official, but the legislative branch of the gov that is charged with being a counter balance to the other branches and are direct elected officials by the people but are all bought and paid
for by these crooks who are robbing the tax payers BLIND. The more I look in to this bail out package the more it looks loke grand larceny on a scale unseen before. These guys paid themselves HUNDREDS of millions of dollars, ran their companies in to the ground, and now the tax payers are footing the bill. FOR WHAT? So the banks can supposedly dump their bad mortgages on the TAXPAYERS and extend more lines of credit so people can rush out to finance more things they can't afford?
"This republic has a long and proud history and has a political system second to none. It works well and is self correcting. If either man gets into office and just plain breaks the law we will impeach him. If he just sucks, we will hang on through the four years and toss him out."
I hope you're right. All I know is that if Obama is elected there are 6 Supreme Court judges that are 70 years old or more and if he were to have the opportunity to get 2-3 liberal judges on the bench to go along with the 2 others
Not to mention the "healthcare reforms"...ie socialization of our hospitals he could acheive with the right Congress and his "tax reforms" which is just more socialization. We've NEVER seen a Pres like Obama and his ideology. We'll be the USSA! Dems already control Congress and if they get more of a hold with Obama in office they could do more to change the course of this country than I feel like could be "self correcting".
W/ McCainn we're in for more of the same as we've had...he's bought and paid for just like BUSH, Congress and the rest of 'em.

Come off the ledge JohnnyD! You are right that the best alternative isn't even available, because nobody worthy would ever consider subjecting himself and his family to the process.
Along with you, I was infuriated when I read the Lehman story...I agree, someone should be doing some time!
Hey, kiss your kids good night, be thankful of what you have, and enjoy the journey. We only get one shot! _________________ Number 1 Texas Rangers fan, circa 1972...Next year is the year.

I respect your point but to me this guy is a character straight off a Saturday Night Live skit and regardless of color is so over the top and CRAZY that I can't help but laugh . The SCARY thing is if you read the viewer comments under each video a majority of the responders take him very seriously . I've never seen anyone quite like him. _________________ John Davis

Poltical leadership or the lack of it aside ... Debt is the issue.
Personal, company, and government debt has and is killing the economy.
There is only one way to get out of it ... STOP SPENDING more than what is taken in.
Until that happens, I really don't think it makes a hill of beans who is sitting at what end of Pennsylvania Ave. ... being broke has no party affiliation.
And the bail out ... that is just moving debt from one owner to another (us). Basically just paying debt with more debt.
Don't ask me how a person gets elected saying "no" but I feel confident in saying this ...
Choice 1: stop spending and go through the next several years of economic pain, recession, depression, whatever to get things paid off AND make sure that access to credit goes back to having financial standards ... the more $$$ in credit you want, the harder it is to qualify or obtain (includes mortages, corporate, banks/finance/investors, and the government).
Choice 2: A repeated cycle of boom to bust economic disasters or becoming just another broke/bankrupt country. _________________ a.k.a. Zen Master of Gar

I'm also worried where this country is headed. We have to many people in the country that thinks government should take care of them instead of taking care of yourselve. I listen to callers into various shows and it like "want is the candidate go to do for me". It should be which candidate is doing what best for the country.
JFK said, "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country". I think our congressmen/women needs to study that quote.
Other, many in this country subscribes to the phrase:
‘Ask Not What You Can Do For you country, Ask What Barack Obama Can Do For You’ _________________ Wish I was fishing....
