Just wanted to pass this along.
If you want to make some really good home made jerky get one of the Ronco food dehydrators. I got one from Big Lots for $30 to give it a try. I have a freezer full of deer meat that I wanted to make some jerky with and I don't have all day to stand over a smoker grill. I can tell you that it makes some really good jerky and you can make a lot with it.
I cut the meat into strips 1/4 inch thick. Any thinner and it gets too crispy. Marinate it in the following for about an hour or so.
soy sauce
Worcestershire sauce
black pepper
white pepper
garlic powder
celery powder
red pepper flakes
tobasco sauce
liquid smoke if you like that. I dont.
Put the jerky in the dehydrator and about 12-16 hours later....BAM. Jerky. Way better then the stuff in the store.
