Hit the encampment with decent winds blowin in today. 8 blues,1 channel with the biggest probably 4-5 pounds. Pretty easy to get cutters as the wind was pushing them in about 5-10 yards off the bank. Didn't know there was such a dropoff there but I do now cause I was wading out and all the sudden my head was underwater.

I have been told about that drop off. I don't think I will wade around out there. Good day for you though bankfisher, maybe not giant fish but sounds like you at least reeled some in.

Nice Dave... Sorry I could not be there- Stupid garage sale.. Won't be out there today either.. Got a phone call after I left to get bait last night. Reminded that I promised to play tennis with my daughter on Sun.. Of course, when I made that promise, I'd thought I was gonna fish on Sat.. Oh well, looking forward to TWOK........

that's it with the arrows. there is a whole lotta bank to fish from at that location.

if ya ask them , they'll let you fish around the whole bank of inside the encampment . theres a nice point that gets the south , southeast , and the southwest winds good . the bank facin directly south towards ef has a nice drop with submerged trees also

Yep there is a dropoff most all the way from the Baptist Encampment all the way around the island at Clear Lake.

I believe it is the old bank line before they raised the level of Lady Lavon in 1975. The drop off is sudden in lots of placing and is not tapered. Those folks wading should take extra care that they are aware of whut they be walking around in. We don't need no bad accidents for our friends!

The first drop-off was right at the waters edge when the lake was 17 ft low.

Great cold weather bank fishing spot from the BE all the way down to the Clear Lake campground.

Please, please clean up after yourself there. Hate to have this spot off limits due to idiots...

so at this encampment, is there a fense around it? or will it be open and I can park in the parking lot and just mosey on down the bank?

Hef,
There's a booth/gate, usually unmanned, into the Baptist Encampment itself. My understanding is that you can park in the parking lots or drive down to the wooden crosses, but no closer. They don't want your vehicles to close to the water.

Between the encampment & Clear Lake park is a people gate/opening in the fence that leads to the water. Park just outside the gate and hoof it down to the water.

Anyone reading this, please be respectful. This is a residential neighborhood. Behave as you would in your own, and don't trash it out so we can keep fishing here.

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll go down tomorrow. Is there anything to this full moon making fishing better?
