For those that are interested, Bethany Lakes is seeing action with stocked trout.
Observed Kastmasters and Super Dupers taking them. Have limited out flyfishing using nymphs. Posted pictures in the link below.
Crowds are light due to the recent rains but it will get busy once the weather clears.
Good Luck!
PS: Bethany Lakes is a community lake in Allen with a limit of 5 per day. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

FYI - Fished this morning with no trout taken. Weather may have changed their pattern. Did not observe surface activity other than 1 trout jumping on the surface.
May try again tomorrow. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Things have slowed at Bethany. Saw three trout taken this afternoon; all were using bait. Not certain but it looked like they were using bread for bait/chum.
Saw a posting that Waterloo Park in Denison was seeing activity. Waterloo was stocked this past weekend. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Fished Bethany Lakes for trout this morning. Fished about 2 hours and limited out with 5 trout. One went 10.5", another went 9", others were small stockers. All were caught using Corn fished on the bottom.
When I cleaned the trout, their stomach contents were mainly Corn and a nymph-like "bug". Did note one Pink and one Chartreuse PowerBait nugget in one of the trout.
I posted pictures on the link below to include the nymph-like "bug". Not sure what it is but may be helpful for someone using flies. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Updates on Bethany Lakes trout:
Fished this morning. Cold with frost on the ground but no wind compared to yesterday.
Caught a limit of trout but it took several hours with a two hour period where nothing was biting. Four trout were 9" to 9.5", and one trout was about 8" (pictures posted in the link below).
Stomach contents were empty except for the Corn eaten when caught. Thoughts are they were not actively feeding yesterday.
PS: Fished yesterday but did not get a strike; too windy! _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

FYI - Fished Denison Dam tailrace for Striped Bass and Waterloo Park Pond in Denison for Trout.
No Striped Bass taken but did see others catch them on flyfishing gear.
Three Trout taken using flyfishing gear; however, did see others do well on Salmon Eggs and Velveeta Cheese with Garlic!
More details and pictures in the link below. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Stopped by Bethany Lakes this evening. Did not fish; just checked out the action.
Observed several fishermen catching trout just as we arrived at around 5PM. However, one fisherman noted the action was slow all day. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

jmounger, no water being released when we arrived. However, talked to some fishermen who fished the morning.
They indicated the generators were running for several hours and caught two stripers.
From other forums, fishermen have indicated the COE schedule has not been consistent with the posted schedule.
Own experience, have seen the generators run in the morning starting around 8AM and in the evening around 5PM. But, it changes day to day and may vary on the weekends.
Hope this helps. Else, check out the Texas Fishing Forum Bank Fishing Thread on the link below. There is a thread for Denison Striper Fishing that has a lot of info about the area. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Did not fish Bethany Lakes today; took a trip to Lake Lewisville Environment Learning Area (LLELA) for a change of pace - small river fishing versus community pond.
Caught two Trout on Super Dupers, and then a small White Bass and small Crappie on a Clouser Minnow.
Picture of the Trout are posted in the link below. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Fished Bethany Lakes for Trout this evening using fly-fishing gear. No trout taken. Tried a Bead Head Hares Ear Nymph with a Dryfly on a dropper. No strikes but did see one Trout actively feeding on the surface.
Saw others fishing with minimal success; however, one fisherman did catch a Trout using Bread fished about two feet below a bobber.
From other forums, looks like Lake Lewisville Ecological Learning Area (LLELA) is getting action. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Tried Bethany today again. No luck. Too windy and cold.
Will shift gears and look for other opportunities over the next few weeks.
FYI: Posted info in the eNewsletter for directions to Lake Lewisville Ecological Learning Area (LLELA). To access, use the link below. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Fished Bethany this morning with no luck. Went to Lake Lewisville Ecological Learning Area later in the afternoon.
Caught one 8" Trout, missed three others. Used Flyfishing gear and a Copper Super Duper. Tried a Brown Wooly Bugger with no luck; shifted to the Super Duper and started getting hits. A little tough tossing the lure with a flyrod; still was able to get some action. See picture in the link below.
Saw others limit out using Corn and PowerBait. However, it looked like Corn was the better bait to use.
Also, saw two fisherman with 16"+ Trout. Good to know there are bigger ones in the river.
Before leaving decided to fish along the rocks near the tailrace; caught several small Crappie on White Clouser Variant, and then hooked and lost a nice Hybrid. Broke my tippet; should have used heavier test then the one I was using for Trout.
FYI: Game Warden stopped by and checked bag limits and licenses. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Went back to Lake Lewisville Ecological Learning Area this morning. Caught and released small Crappie, and then hooked but lost several Hybrid along the tailrace's rocks.
Observed several nice Hybrid taken by fishermen fishing the generator's outflow. Estimate 6+ pounds. Also, two fishermen were catching Catfish in the calm area using liver for bait. Consistent action for about an hour, then it tapered off around 11AM.
Did not fish for Trout but noted limits taken by fishermen leaving the area. Looks like Corn is the consistent producer for the Trout. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com

Bethany Lakes slowed down. Shifted to looking for other areas. Tried Lake Lavon this morning. No luck at the Dam Tailrace. Did observe one Gaspergou caught on a live minnow. Else, no luck.
Went back to Allen to check on the Catfish at Celebration Park. Caught two using Corn. About 18" in size. Pictures in the Llink below. _________________ www.CityOfAllenFishing.Blogspot.Com
