| Hey guys. I am new to the lake and looking for a little help. Went out this saturday and found shad and sandbass on just about every place that I stopped. I was using a spoon and caught all the fish I wanted however I couldn't find anything of any size. I think I only had one that made the 10" mark. I switched to a bigger spoon and it didn't seem to help any. Just started foul hooking them. Are there any magnum size whites in this lake or do you just have to make do with the smaller ones? Any help is appreciated.

Jaubert150, I was out Sat am as well but I could not find them anywhere. I went to the dam, island, coves and nada. We have been doing really good the past month, I have been throwing them a 1/4 oz road runner, Try to throw over the area they surface and let it sink (if the little fellers don't grab it) a bit and been finding some keepers that way. _________________ JimBo

I use a crank bait that looks like a shad that runs 10-12 ft deep. When they are up on top cast as far acros them as you can. The crank bait will go down where the bigger one hang out.

On this lake I have my best luck when I let the bait drop10' to 15' before cranking.

Thanks guys. I really didn't go that deep. I was usually in about 15'-10'. I just used my electronics to find bait and whever I dropped my spoon I got'em. Even picked up a crappie on my jig that I tie above the spoon..pretty cool. I also threw a series 300 bandit crank in red craw but only caught one on it. The schools I found were roving on flats related to deeper water or just in do nothing areas chasing smaller shad under the birds. Felt like these little guys might of been kicked out of key areas by the bigger fish and they were out earning their stripes , no pun intended. Do you guys see the larger fish hanging around more isolated humps and deeper transitions that may hold the larger shad a little tighter?

Cajun Mike and I hit the lake about 6:00a Saturday 'till about 1:00p. We graphed tons of bait at the dam, island, little ridge, etc. We only found two schools all day. The day ended out with 3 big'uns and thirty+ dinks (all released )We blamed the slow bite on the lack of wind. Also, wondered if the Magnums moved towards the north creeks to feed??? Surely it wasn't us Nevertheless a day on the lake beat a day at the office!

Try a series 400 in gray and white or black and white, it works for me.
They do not have to be on top for 'em to bite.
(I think you are referring to Bandit crank baits) They can be found at Academy

Went out for a couple of hours after work wednesday.....
found a school out in front of livonia park.
hot and heavy for half an hour. 1/3 of the fish were nice sized. 2/3 dinks.
then the skiers decided to show us the side of their boat real close. between us and the bank, of course.
the entire lake was flat as glass and they just kept buzzing us.... stupid.
i used a spoon. my 7yr old boy was reeling in a roadrunner.
spoon caught more...... but i had an expert reeling them in for me.
as soon as he got the fish in, i had him hooked up again and we would trade poles. fun _________________ www.dallasloanguy.com
