Gentleman,

I think I might go fishing this weekend but would very much like to have a courtesy dock so that I can launch and load easier. Are there any ramps with courtesy docks that are close to good catfish habitat? Maybe on the East side of the lake for a change?

Thanks,
Brad/cheapersleeper

I have never used Lavonia. I have been out at Little ridge quite a bit but have never looked for catfish territory around there. Nice ramp and dock at Little Ridge though...

for what you want, I am guessig that Caddo is your best bet. I haven't checked in a while, but they have a dock and are close to some good fishing territory. If you go to Little ridge, you could ride to Lakeland cove or go across to Tickey.

OK, finally found that facilities listing for the parks. I have been looking for it for a couple of days now. I am going to post the link here:

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/lavon/access.phtml

This is the one that lists the courtesy docks and stuff.

I am not having surgery for a couple more weeks and recovery after that is kind of a no lifting thing so I figured I would try to get out once or twice before then.

Thanks Lynn and Mr. Polebender. I was thinking Caddo but didn't know whether it had a dock.

The gate at Caddo has been locked for the past several days. The dock is almost out of the water.

You might look at Mallard. They have a courtesy dock and there are some tree and riprap near by. I know there are some cats up there. Couple years I watched some guys take cats of their trotline.

Yeah, I have considered trying Mallard. As you mentioned, there are lots of trees and such. Water is a lot deeper there than at Highland.

sorry, didn't know about Caddo. I didn't look last time I was up that way. Mallard is good to go and you can go under the bridge for some fishing. I fished there a few weeks back and caught a couple, but I was just goofin off.

The water on the east side of 78 looks fairly shallow. I've never fished it yet but have wondered if there are cats up there.

I have wondered about that as well. I never see anyone over there so I assumed there was some good reason not to try it. Seems like good habitat for the catfish.

Well I hate to hear that about Caddo. Thats where I have been launching in the recent past. I'm sure if it's closed, Twin Groves is sure to follow soon, unless we get some rain.

THERE ARE NO CATFISH ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE LAKE! Everyone should stay north of Highland. icon_smile.gif

I'll PM you.
