Dont leave your garage remote in your truck.
Mine got broke into last night (I left the window cracked) and some punk took my control. I have spent the morning learning how to replace and reprogram.
I am really a peaceful guy, but if I catch someone on my property , they are going to hit the ground

my thought exactly,
I failed to mention that one of my neighbors down the alley had his wifes convertible cut open 2 weeks ago and last week my next door neighbor had someone break in her house though her kitchen window. (police THINK ITS KIDS)
I wish thieves stold from them self and stayed away from folks who work hard for what we have but I guess that entire sentence does not make sense now that I read it.

Where are you located? For sure the incidence of property crime seems to increase when the kids are out of school but those don't sound like they are National Honor society kids. _________________ Bravery: letting someone give you drugs to make you sleep so that a large man can take a blade to your groin.

My question also - where abouts do you live? _________________ Jeff

I hate to hear that. I am in Plano off of Parker and Alma. We had a few incidents around our neighborhood. A buddy of mine said that he makes sure to say hi and be real friendly to the local hooligans. I have chose to do the same and have not had any issues. Now that I say this I will be robbed before I get home. Dogs help also. I have a blue heeler that could not give a rats ...., but my little Jack Russel will take down an army before they get into the house. Another thing I plan to do once I get the boat all cleaned up. Put up a "dummy" camera over the garage. It looks like it is real. It is just enough to deter someone from breaking in to cars/boats behind the house. _________________ Life's a sport...

this junk happens more and more often. I am guessing that the penalties are not severe enough to deter folks from doing it. I blame some parents too......
However, if you actually caught them when they came back and did something. I guarantee the nightly news will have YOU as the problem!!! And the kids parents will be on there saying that their kid a good kid and he didn't deserve what you did to him.......
When I lived in Wylie, we had an issue with our doorbell ringing at 2 AM. First time it happenned it scared my entire family to the point where they couldn't sleep. ALl the what if and who it might be at such an hour. The next night i wait outisde the house with my shotgun in hand!!!!!
Sure enough, three neighborhood kids are playing around and laughing as they bolt from the house after waking someone else up in the middle of the morning 2 houses down. They were like 12 years old. My first question is why 12 year old kids are on the street at 2 AM. Yes, they weren't doing much in reality, but in peoples mind they just as well have been there to harm someone.
I remember a show on TV once where a guy shot a kid with something similar happenning. The kid was using a sligshot to shoot at windows at night. Everyone was horrified that the man had shot the kid. During the court case, they brought in the same plexiglass windows that were on the house and they shot them with a rock and it sounded like a gun going off. Imagine waking to that and instinct kicking in. At first glance, the guy looked trigger happy shooting a kid with a slingshot, but when the story was laid out there, a lot had changed the look on their faces.
You want to not over-react with something like this, but I am afraid that it will take more folks doing that before someone thinks twice about it.
This is me stepping off the soapbox.... Sorry for rambling. _________________ Joe Simpson

| Sorry to hear about the break in. As one of the other posting mentioned, it was probably kids. It was teenagers that get me in Plano during spring break several years ago. If I had been there, they would have been hitting the ground.

oh trust me I really pray they dont come back because I do NOT want to hurt some kid, adult, teenager, what ever.
But fact of the matter is if someone is in my garage or house. Im not going to put my faimilies safety at risk by checking some stupid jokers ID.

when I was a bachelor living in Mckinney...and I had trouble with knuckleheads stealing my CAB cooler out of my truck...I put on my BDU's and hid beside the house and shot them with a BB gun and paintball gun and when they got lippy I would tell them to go get their parents so I could whip their butt for not whipping their kids'!!!!...I know it sounds harsh... but after that the kids were cool and they brought my cooler's back ...got a whole stack of them now..

Dang jjason, we're practically neighbors! I live at the NW corner of Jupiter and Belt Line. Our next door neighbors house was actually raided by cops today. Not sure what for, but there were two ppl carted off. Not sure if it was SWAT or not, but they had trucks and vans and machine guns. _________________ 2008 Catfishing Totals:

I had a HOA meeting at my house awhile back and invited one of the local police officers to speak about crime prevention and one of the things he suggested is to wave at everyone that goes by the house. This lets the people know that you have seen them and could identify them.
Another idea; get one of those nature cameras that is motion activated and is battery operated. I've seen these used at deer feeders.

Yea I was thinking about setting up my game cam as well.
As far as the waving thing goes.. I may start waving with my hand really high, so the barrel of my glock shows under my shirt.. At this point I am using less honey and more vinegar on these flys...

you can buy a home survellience system at walmart for less than $50. I have one and it is pretty nice. We have a cameran at the front door and one on the driveway.
Getting them to record activity is additional.

I was watching the news last night and somewhere in the metromess some guy had a business that the ac units kept getting stolen so his son staked it out and he shot some guy off his roof and the news reporter said the police had no intention of charging him with a crime. Also, another guy last week called 911 and said someone was out side breaking into his car again and he had a shotgun and told the 911 operator that he was going out there and shoot them. You could hear the operator hollering for him to come back and you could hear a couple of shots and then he said I shot him!! The operator then said "well, don't shoot anybody else because we have some undercover cops there!!" Yeah, right! The prosecutor's response is a classic. "This shooting didn't rise to the level of a crime being committed." Maybe if more people are no-billed for shooting these sorry trash under the Castle Law then maybe it will slow them down a bit. _________________ It's only funny 'til someone gets hurt - then its absolutely hysterical!
