I just moved to the area from CT by way of Missouri. I was hoping to get out and fish with my 5 and 3 year old son. Just wondering if any of you could give me some pointers.
-Where to get minnows driving over from McKinney?
-Best boat dock to launch boat?
-any specifics to where we might fish this fall?
All help most appreciated!!!

welcome to the forum.. most of the guys around here troll spider rigs durin the winter for crappie by the dam . best way to learn that is to book a trip with our local guides jerry hancock or paul . i'm sure theres some other little unknown tricks up their sleeves also , but after 1 trip and you'll never haveta figure out where to take those liitle uns again to catch fish anytime you get out there.........
go back to last year around this time and check out the posts , that'll get ya started in the right direction.
boat ramps....clear lake and east fork will be your best ramps durin the winter to launch . check out the main page of lake lavon fishin site for the map of the lake and ramps .
also check out the catfish forum ...they're bout ready to turn on also if ya like catchin the big slimey fish
all 3 of these guides will put ya on some monster fish ............

Hey Moducks,
Welcome to the forum. What fishin1 said!
Plus, if you have a fishfinder look in 15-17 foot of water for brush piles and submerged stumps. The west arm of the lake has a huge standing timber field. Get in there in 16-18 foot water and fish down 15' with jigs. No bites go 14', not bites 13', repeat until you find the sweet spot. Lavon jigs of choice are black and chartuese tube jigs.
With the water temps coming down you may find them 12-15 foot on brushpiles also. Good luck. _________________ Jeff

Welcome to our in corner of the world. Lots of good folks on here and tons of information. If you are into catfishing, we are having a small swap gathering this Saturday starting around 2. Stop by if you are in the area. We will be at the east ramp parking lot of East Fork. If you are going to be fishing a lot, I would recommend purchasing a annual pass. 30 bucks, unlimited access to the ramp and includes day use area as well. If not, it is 3 bucks to lauch.
As far a bait stores, the two that come to mind are Lucas bait store and Lakeway. Lucas bait store is at the corner of 1378 and 3286. Lakeway is at the corner of 1378 and parker rd in Wylie.
Good Luck and Welcome !!!
