don - i posted this on the other thread but it isnt working right so i am posting it here. i see you liked the hurricane deck boat and you like fiberglass. here is another good looking deck boat.

ORIGINAL POST:

don, ranger makes a somewhat deckboat now, it is the 2250SS. is 22.5' long, 101" wide and takes a 250. looks pretty sharp but might be more a family boat though

That is a nice looking boat for sure. But it did have 2 features the Hurrican has that it doesn't have. The hurrican has a canopy for when it is so hot out and can protect you from the sun, plus the hurrican has a change room on it that I put a porta potty in it for the women to use mainly. The Hurrican i have will go about 45 MPH. Which is fast enough for me. It will hold 9 people on it, plus you can pull a skier on it if you wanted to play around some. The long seat is long enough that I can lay down on when I go do me some night fishing also. And price wise, you probably will be paying some bigger bucks because it is called a ranger also. Ok, sorry i butted in here. Just wanted to also give some more info on the hurrican deck boat.

i cant think of a time i have ever been in a deck boat, they all look pretty cool. it is initially what we wanted to look at but decided on the FnS instead. i am sure the ranger is much pricier and all. it is a hoss of a boat though. i like the center console on it. a 250 is quite a bit of engine too!

I have never fished from a center console boat either. Maybe someday we can arrange some catfishing trips out of each other boat and compare. lol And catch some good cats also.

I just thought they both looked like nice boats if that's what you were after. My next boat will be fiberglass & will be center console. It will have to be self bailing & no carpet & be able to do at least 55 mph, 60 would be better. I really don't want a new boat that is slower than the one I have now. Still waiting for a test ride on a sea pro icon_wink.gif icon_lol.gif

This may have been covered in the original post but what's the scoop on these G3's? The layout looks great and gotta love that 60" livewell. I know Bigcat's got one, but don't know too much about em other than that.

Dave drives an Xpress. The G3 looks nice, but I have never been in a deep V version.

That's right...thinkin it was a G3 for a minute. The more I've looked I'm having a hard time finding the boat I want. Want a light weight 20' deep v aluminum that's tough, big live wells, but versatile enough with plenty of seating to have family out for a day just hangin on the lake too. I'd like one we could invite others and their kids out with us...maybe room for 6-7 comfortably but still with all the features (big live well, rod lockers, wash down, tandem axle trailer) for fishing I want. These G3's look nice but I don't know anything about their reputation.

Yeah I drive an Xpress x-54 17 ft single console. Great boat but not enough room. I'll be looking to upgrade as well soon.

Probably go with a deep v hull. The center consoles look nice, but the "comfort factor" isn't there.

the crestliner boats are very spacious and would be good for both fishing and fun, but would be more of a fishing rig. good luck John, cause i don't know if that perfect boat is out there. You can add wash down systems and things like that and maybe even build a deck for the front with some cushions for when you want to just get on the lake (kinda the opposite of what Simon does icon_biggrin.gif ).

JD you might want to look at Starcraft. This is what I am looking at getting come March or so.

JD... Have you look into Lowe boats. Plenty of front and back platform for fishing. Have seat built in for extra guest.

I've looked at that Lowe (185 FS) but the rod locker only accomodates 7' rods, I'd like a bigger built in live well than a 23 gal, and I'm really leaning towards a 20' boat with capacity for more motor than a 150.
The best option I've seen for what I'm looking for is the G3 V210. If I could add stern seating...maybe a nice bench...and some removable bow cushions for when we have kiddos and family on board then I think this is the boat I want. Of course I'm still checking in to how they hold up, but for instance that Lowe has a .100" hull guage and the G3 has .100" + .100" (double hull) and double rivoting.
