if anybody has been gettin curious like me , Image . i talked to one of them at the corp office earlier and she said as soon as it gets to just 7 foot high , they will start surveyin the ramps to see if there was any damage done to em while they was underwater . its got .21 inches left to go . Image so ef , avalon , and cl might be open this w/e so there wont be any parkin lots waitin at the ramps anymore Image

I like it like it is icon_wink.gif Few people on the lake right now. I can run from Highland to Tickey in 20 minutes and not find people all over the stuff I want to fish icon_cool.gif
The best part is watching the idiots skiing through the timber around Highland icon_eek.gif I know those big ski boats have never even been up there before now. They just run through that timber like nothing will happen icon_lol.gif

Fishin1, without asking where abouts yer fishin ,don't want you to give up your hot spots, just launch at highland and take the ride over. Thats what we did this weekend, so we wouldn't have to fight that mess. I did that at avalon 3wks ago and it was a joke. If ya know which routes to go you can hold the hammer down on the throttle and make it across the lake farely quick.

Simple physics: The concrete slopes of the ramps are fine. The transition zone between the road surface and the ramp is the problem.

If you drive on wet roadbase, the asphalt on top of the roadbase will crack and ultimately fail. The water should be off of the asphalt for at least 14 days to allow the base material sufficient time to dry out. Lavon has some of the best boat ramp access in North Texas. It will stay that way in the future if we take the proper steps to protect the infrastructure.

If you want to look at an example what happens when base material fails look at the public ramps at Hubbard or Richland Chambers.

To all you guys seeing people tubing and skiing over timber in areas they aren't familiar with, do you make any effort to alert them? I was skiing by the powerplant one day when a North wind was blowing and a fisherman told me timber was underneath the water about a foot and that was that and we were done. We certainly appreciated the info. I would hate to think that people just sit and watch to see what happens next.

I sure hope it dries out soon, seems alot of people found the elm creek ramp, it was a full house yesterday, and a mad house when the rain pushed in.Great after that though everybody went home and we headed back out.It amazes me how many people cant back a rig up.

dont have time to go and talk sense to every skier.. have a sonar installed on the boat you payed so much $$ for and look at the area. get a lake map it will have areas marked. be responsible for yourself as a skier as we are as fisherman. highland is easy though when there is timber everywhere above water line icon_rolleyes.gif

i have offered some advise before like others and usually ends in a heated battle becuase there are some that are stuck on stupid. not all but it just takes one to ruin it 4 all. so when i fish a new area i look it over and look at my maps before i get on plane. skiers better do the same

at lavonia there is 4 lanes i had waited last time out for 10 minutes to get to the ramp and it was open the whole time. a$$holes getting everything ready at the ramp and holding it up. saw a car parked in a spot w/ no trailer then another a$$hole parked behind them instead finding another spot. speed bump in front of first car so he's blocked in. he tried to hope the bump but being in a car it dragged and he was pissed. he left a nice F YOU in giant letters across the car in what looked like lotion or sunscreen icon_lol.gif

Guess that car was lucky with 4 letters..... I'm surprise it didn't get busted window or push down the ramp.

yep saw it too icon_eek.gif , the very 1st parkin spot .thought they might've been together , but i guess not . heck i thought i'd be smart and park all the way on the other end just for plannin ahead when we got off of the lake ......NOT ....... there was a line all the way around the curve coming into the parkin lot . we had already trailered by buddies boat and i parked him on the west side of the parkin lot . next time if there has to be a next time , i'll park my truck on the west side of the parkin lot also , but unlike the guy in the car , i sat there and finished a beverage and saw that drainage ditch icon_idea.gif dry ditch , truck Imageor waitin to back out for an hour Image

oh yeh f.c.--- i owe ya one too , remember . those aren't speed bumps , those a curb stops Image
