Ok..

I have a float tube.. I know, not news icon_rolleyes.gif

I want to add a trolling motor to it.

Here's my idea, to a cetain extent.

PVC.. I've thought that since there is a PVC bar that rins across the lap, that I could start there. Not sure it would be sturdy enough. But, a possible option nonetheless.

Run a stick out from the bar. and then work on adding the parts there to drop the motor down from. If this turns out to be to weak. Then I thought of making the whole thing surround the tube with spray in foam in it all the way around using some bigger conduit. I know there are some Genius' on this forum that are full of s$%^. icon_twisted.gif I mean ideas. icon_razz.gif

So, without too much sarcasm. Let your ideas start here.

I'd be awful scared of getting my feet caught up in the blades!

What about forgetting the trolling motor and add on the motor from one of these?

I have seen similar things in the store cheaper. It would be safer than having a trolling motor hanging down.

I already have a trolling motor for the plan. I like that little motor, but to spend another $150.00 on a motor that I'm not sure I can trust for any extended period of time is kind of scary.

I'm not worried about my feet in the motor. I'll be wearing fins anyway, and I will put a guard on it.

You could make something like this then:

Maybe shorten the shaft on the motor too.

Remember, my tube is not round. It's a U shaped Tube. I like that idea, But, I'm not sure it would do what I want. I don't want to clamp my motor on. I want to Run the pole thru a hole. icon_redface.gif I wish I knew how to draw it and put it here for you to see.

be really careful on where you put the trolling motor so it will be a sufficiently safe distance from your feet calves knees etc.

It takes a millisecond for a trolling motor to necessitate a trip to emergency for stitches......... trust me !!

I am not sure, but I thought I saw flipper Joe with a TM attached one time.

good luck with it.

I went to high school with a guy named Edwin Evers that won several bass tournaments out of what he called a "Kick Tube" when he was young. Always pictured it to be some type of motor on a float like you are talking. He's a pro Bass Angler now and you could e-mail him to ask:

New to the board and enjoy the commentary. Thanks.

I talked to guy here at work that uses a cordless drill with a long bolt in it and a trolling motor prop for his float tube. He carries a couple of extra batteries with him.

Red, as a kid, I remember ads for that 'kick tube' in Outdoor Life magazine. If I recall, it was an innertube with 2 separate paddle-like gizmos that you strap to your lower legs. When you kick, it was supposed to propel you forward.

I have drawn a picture in PAint. I'm at work, and don't know how to post this picture. If I could email it to someone it may give you an Idea of what I'm trying to do.

Ok, the Tube already has a PVC pipe running across it. I am thinking of connecting another to it to extend it out, then using some stuff I have seen at Home Depot, to drop the post thru.
