If I get some stuff done at home I might wnat to take my little boat out for a shakedown. I would be launching by myself. The boat is small and I konw that with a courtest dock that I could handle it. But will any ramps/docks not be flooded? I have never had this little boat out so I would just be puttering around and testing the outboard ans such.
Many thanks,
Brad

| I have launched my 15ft boat at Caddo Park or Twin Groves, Caddo has a dock, may be broken though. Twin has good wind protection. I have even done it with no outboard motor.. I usually tie a long rope to the front of the boat, hold the other end, back into the water, hit the brakes so the boat launches itself, pull the boat to where you can get in, go park, go catch dinner. Loading is usually a bit more difficult but not to bad.

I don't think I will use the Captain Dewey method right off the bat. The part about backing up and htting the brakes sounds iffy since I haven't actually launched a boat in 20 years. The long rope part is a method that I am considering since I don't know if the outboard will be balky.
Thanks. _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

Well, hell, all the ramps are closed. Guess I will wait a week or two. _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

The ramps at Clearlake and Lavonia South are still accessible.
We do not close the ramps until the water reaches the level of the asphault on the ramp approach.
The closed ramps will reopen 14 days (two weeks) after the water is completely off of the base material.

Thank you, Ranger. My reply was as much for comedic value as for content. I certainly did not mean to sound like I was casting stones. If you knew how long it has taken me to get one smallish boat ready to go, you would laugh. _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

Cheapersleeper, take it to T-wok & launch at the 751 bridge, you can go west under the bridge & find lots to fish without getting into the big water.

| The Dewey way works. Its what I do. It sounds weird but all your doing is letting it float back instead of pushing it out by hand. I have mine setup like that with rope and a carabiner that clips to the front of my boat. I only have a 12' Jon so its not a problem.

Oh, I am certain it works. I just haven't been on any of these ramps with this boat. Been so long that I might leave the boat on dry land if I tried Captain Dewey's method. After I relearn, I will probably use it. _________________ "I was getting too many snakes in the house, otherwise I would have stayed,"

| careful after the boat slides off the trailer because the rope could be jerked out of your hand if it is too short or you launch it too fast.
